So after a busy end to the week and a relaxing weekend, I'm here to finish off my Thanksgiving posts.

Today I want to say how thankful I am for my family and my supporters who allow my to be here in Sierra Leone. Ever since the night I told my parents about Mercy Ships they have been behind me 100 %. When I told them I wanted to come, when I said that I would be quitting the security of my job and income, when I told them I would be gone for six months they never hesitated. Before I even knew everything about Mercy Ships there were people that said they would support me with my journey on the Africa Mercy. I've never had to ask people to support me, there have always been people happy to be obedient to God's call and support the people that He sends.

Thursday we had the opportunity to make the traditional meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce. My team did most of that work while I made 13 huge apple pies for the after meeting dessert. Every Thursday we have a community wide worship service on the ship which is traditionally followed by ice cream. The crew was happy to see warm apple pit to accompany it.

Thursday was also the last day that our day workers got to work with us. Friday all the day workers came (150+) for a big African meal, a celebration service, and ice cream before leaving the ship for the last time.
There were many people at lunch considering the many extra people that aren't normally here all at one time.  They all came dressed very well and was hard to recognize many of them since we are used to them being dressed in their work clothes. The service was AMAZING.  From the time the music started they were dancing with joy for Jesus. Every person was dancing around showing their praise for Jesus. After watching a few slide shows of the things that have occurred over the last ten months and a great message of gratitude from the captain I'm sure I wasn't the only person with tears strolling down their face.
We moved to midships and had ice cream, took some pictures of the whole team. When everybody got outside I gave them some pictures that I had printed and laminated, a few small gifts and said goodbye to them not knowing when we would ever see them again. There is a chance that we could see them this Friday, we invited them to a restaurant in the city for a final celebration, but it's unknown who will show up.

Please keep the crew in your prayers. The hospital closed up last Friday and with all the day workers gone we are just packing up and getting things read to sail in two weeks. There are also many people leaving in before we leave. With over 60 people leaving in the next week. Today a couple Rob & Denise Miller who left the ship after 10 years of service with Mercy Ships.

Day #22

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #22
A few weeks ago when I went to the beach and camped out I had the privilege of seeing a leatherback turtle. The largest species of turtles in the world and a critically endangered species. The story is kinda lengthy, but we were able to save the turtle and even got free t-shirts out of the deal. You'll have to ask me some time to get the full story.
So to say the least, I am thankful that we got to save that turtles night while we were camping out on the beach.

Day #21

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #21
Today I want to say how thankful I am for my Lord Jesus Christ that accepts me every time that I mess up. Whenever I get going down the road he accepts my confessions and loves me like it never happened. I know I've grown so much while being in Sierra Leone, but I won't understand for a while because it often takes a long time to see how things have changed in our own lives.

On a side note. Please keep all of the crew of the Africa Mercy in your prayers. This past week was our final surgeries for the Sierra Leone outreach. This coming Friday the hospital will close and we will say goodbye to the day-workers that have been such a tremendous help to us. (over 150). As it being a time of closing shop and getting ready to sail to Ghana many crew have ended their time on the ship and many more will be leaving in the next two weeks. It is very hard to see the people we love, so keep us in your prayers. Thanks! : )

Day #20

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #20
This is a day late, but I want to say that I am thankful for my Bible Study Group here on the ship. I joined the Bergman Family Group a little time back and have enjoyed every week. I enjoy the time that I get ready for Bible study even more. Makes me wonder why I never did much to get ready for Sunday School in the past. Who knows how much I've missed out on in the past years. I am also looking forward to joining the guys of the youth at home for a new Bible study beginning in January. I caught the end of their Crazy Love study last spring and pray that we find a good book for this next session.

Day #19

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #19
I am thankful for having the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people.

Back on Day #1 I stated that I was thankful for the people that I serve with on the ship. Today there is a little bit of a different spin on that. Over the next two weeks many of the people here will be leaving either because it is the end of their time with Mercy Ships or because they are going home for the Christmas Season. Because I have been thinking about the many people leaving, instead of getting mad or upset I decided to be thankful for having the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. It might not sound that much different than being thankful for my friends, but I understand without coming to Mercy Ships these people wouldn't have ever been a part of my life. It has been a blessing to be part of their lives and hopefully bless them at the same time.

Day #18

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #18
Today I am thankful for the talent of cooking that I have. I don't say it to boast, but most of it has come as a gift from God. My schooling and experience has refined it, but it comes so natural that I can't take any credit for it.

This August I began my tenth year in the professional kitchen. Two years of half day classes in High School, two years in college, and six in the paid/working world. I don't see myself leaving the food industry any time soon, and it would take a calling from God to move me to a different career.

My last day of work at the St. Louis Club, 6/24/2011.

Day #17
Today I want to say that I'm thankful for my team. The galley crew that I work with are amazing. Since this picture was taken we now have a different team leader and another lady. We work together very well. Things get done very fast and a lot is accomplished.

Day #16

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #16
After becoming friends with a dentist that is on the ship recently I realized how thankful that I haven't had to go to the dentist in over eight years. The dental team finished this week after 10,200+ patients they extracted 33,400+ teeth.

Day #15

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #15
After receiving a phone call from home asking what I wanted for Christmas and looking through some ads online I realized that there really isn't anything that I want. I could use some fresh socks, but besides that I'm pretty content with what the Lord has provided me. That is what I'm thankful for today. That the Lord continues to provide my needs and even gives me more than I deserve.

Day #13

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #13
Toady I realized that I've had my camera for over 2 years now. I can't imagine not having it. I love capturing the moments of my life to show to others. It showing people how I see life. You could take many things away from me and I wouldn't be upset but if you took my camera I would not be in a good shape.

Day #12

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #12
Today I'm thankful for the international community that I have had the opportunity to grow up in. Not really speaking about the town that I live in, but hosting the many exchange students that stayed at our house, learning about their culture, and getting to know people from all around the world.
It has made my time with Mercy Ships so much easier than if I hadn't been exposed to it before.

Day #11

This month to celebrate Thanksgiving I'm going to be posting everyday telling what I'm thankful for.

Day #11
Today I'm thankful for games and friend/family time.

I have many fond memories that were formed over a board or card game. In the past few years I've even began playing games that don't require anything more than pen, paper and a great imagination.
New Years Eve Parties, Birthday Parties, Fun nights, Youth Lock-Ins they're all involving games.

I can see where internet games could get addicting, but playing with people across the table and seeing their reaction when they win or lose is the best.
Here are a few picture of games and fun times with games.
